FORMER OLYMPIAN CONGRATULATES BRIDGEND IN LEAPS AND BOUNDS
Budding gymnasts in Bridgend took some sporting inspiration from one of Britain’s most successful athletes and London 2012 Olympic Board Member, Jonathan Edwards CBE, when he paid a visit to Pencoed Comprehensive School.
Boys aged four to 18 -years-old from Pencoed Gymnastics Club showcased exactly what they can do in a 15 minute display, followed by a solo performance from Welsh Champion, Ben Dennis.
Jonathan Edwards, said:
"We want to see more children and young people getting involved in sport with school facilities open, and coaches to motivate and support them. It’s inspiring to see the quality of gymnastics being delivered in Bridgend and it’s encouraging to witness the area playing its part in ensuring its students and communities embrace the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012."

BRIDGEND REPRESENTED IN BRITISH AND USA OPEN
GOLF TOURNAMENTS
Bridgend golfer, Rhys Davies, has qualified for the US Open golf tournment in Pebble Beach, California. He appears there after playing in the 139th Open at St Andrews and gaining second prize in the Welsh Open at Celtic Manor, the venue for this year's Ryder Cup.
In his first season as a gof professional, known as the 'rookie' season he has earned almost a million Euros! This is an amazing feat for the 25 year old former Brynteg pupil and his hopes are high for inclusion in the European Ryder Cup Team to play the Americans at Celtic Manor in September.
